A Birthday in Comporta

Warm wood, woven texture, and flowers left a little unruly.

Long summer dinner table in Comporta, Portugal styled with sculptural florals, greenery and clear glass candleholders.

For a birthday in Comporta, we took our cues from the house and the landscape around it.

Warm wood, woven textures and loose greenery ran the length of the table, punctuated by tall, sculptural flowers in orange and white. Clear glass candleholders added height without adding weight, and as dinner went on, the table became what it was meant to be — a little fuller, a little messier, and much better for it.

Outside, an oversized balloon installation in sea blue, sage, ivory and muted gold brought a more playful scale to the celebration while staying connected to the colors around us.

The idea wasn’t to transform the setting. It was to give it just enough of a sense of occasion.

The Table

Loose greenery, sculptural stems and candlelight running the length of the table.

The Flowers

Flowers were kept tall and slightly unruly, leaving plenty of air between them.

Outside

Outside, the palette shifted into sea blue, sage, ivory and muted gold — playful in scale, but still tied to the landscape.

Create a gathering with a point of view.
